Unfortunately the National Wildlife Centre has seen too many owl injuries requiring urgent care this year. This female Snowy owl arrived in December with a badly fractured wing. Her beautifully patterned feathers remind us just how perfectly Snowy Owls are made for the Arctic. Even her feet are covered in thick feathers like tiny winter boots. She remained with us at the NWC until her surgical pins were removed. She then completed her rehabilitation with the Owl Foundation, as we do not yet have a raptor enclosure for flight testing and preconditioning.
