When our new field hospital opened in late April 2025, this Virginia opossum was one of the first animals through the door. She had been hit by a vehicle and suffered severe head trauma and several fractures. Her chances were uncertain.
But after weeks of intensive care, she healed beautifully and was released back into the wild – a moment that reminded us exactly why this new facility matters so much.
Since then, we’ve treated 56 opossums… and the season isn’t even over.
